Tomorrow, 12 April, by a happy coincidence the date of Easter in 1846 when Don Bosco began the Valdocco oratory, Fr Pascual Chávez Villanueva, re-elected as Salesian Rector Major during the Chapter, will give the concluding speech of GC26.
Next the Moderator, Fr Francesco Cereda, will declare the Chapter officially closed. It has involved 232 Salesians, from 129 countries, gathered in Rome to address the theme, inspired by Don Bosco’s motto, ‘Da mihi animas’. Finally there will be a solemn celebration of the Eucharist led by the Rector Major himself.
At 10.30 (GMT+1) there will be a broadcast on Telepace, produced by the Don Bosco Missions Media Centre of Turin, covering the conclusion of GC26. There will be a two and a half hour transmission from the Salesian Generalate including the closing Mass (11.00 GMT+1), a short diary of the Chapter, and the video on the six years from 2002-2008 which was shown to the chapter members in early March. The Rector Major and his Vicar, Fr Adriano Bregolin, will give a final message after the Mass.
