The Councillor for Formation has the duty of furthering the integral and ongoing formation of the members.

He follows with particular care the phases of the period of initial formation to ensure that in them the content, arrangement of studies, the formation methods and structures provide the conditions necessary for growth in the Salesian vocation. (C. 135)
