Animation - Letter from Fr Filiberto

Dear friends,

I greet you in the day of the memorial of Blessed Laura Vicuña, a girl who has made a path of spiritual maturity in a short time and space of her existence, but this newsletter will be sent, as usual, on January 24, the feast of St. Francis de Sales, patron of the Salesians and journalists: Happy feast days!

This 24th of January, we will hear also the message of Pope Francis on the 48th World Day for Social Communications - 2014: Communication at the service of an authentic culture of encounter. I encourage you to study it personally and with your team, then you can arrange how to celebrate the annual Provincial Day for Social Communication with the Salesian communities in initial formation, SDB and FMA and other members of the Salesian Family.

Like last year, from the 24th until the 31st of January, we want to "flood" the social networks with short meaningful quotations, banners, logos, songs and several pictures/images of Don Bosco. This activity is to present Don Bosco as Father, Teacher and Friend, with the creativity of cultural diversity and with the affection and gratitude that come from the hearts of all the members of the Salesian Family and young people of our settings. Please animate the young people, parents and staff of your settings and your provinces.

We inform you as well, that the official Press Conference for the Bicentennial of the birth of Don Bosco will be held on February 6 in Rome. In the presence of the international media, it will be hosted by the Rector Major, accompanied by other dignitaries of the Church and society that currently have something in common with Don Bosco.
In the ANS and SDB.org, you will find the information on how to follow this event via the internet, and also see the materials which would be offered to the media. I invite you to do a similar "Press Conference" in your city or country, providing this dossier of information, with your additional local intiatives, to the press, TV, radio, magazines, and websites/blog, etc...

All together the members of the Department wish you a grand feasts of St. Francis de Sales and of Don Bosco.

Sincerely: Fr. Filiberto
