The Salesian Missionary Volunteering is a service of solidarity, made without cost and freely-given by a young person, sent and welcomed by a community, which is part of the educative and pastoral project of a Salesian presence or promoted by it, with a sufficient continuity of time, motivated by faith, with a missionary style and according to the pedagogy and spirituality of Don Bosco.

Following the SMV coordinators' meeting in March 2024, a cross for Salesian Missionary Volunteers was launched at congregational level as a symbol of unity in commitment.

The SMV is a service jointly carried out by the Sectors for Missions and Youth Ministry.
