Date: | 27-28 February 2010
Place: | Mexico South Province Retreat House
Province: | MEM | |
Campo Bosco 2010 Campo Bosco 2010 took place at the Mexico South Province Retreat House. It was organised by the Youth Ministry Team for MEM, led by Fr Julián Daniel García Reynoso the YM Delegatel. More than 600 boys and gils from the Mexican Republica took part, and the Camp was coordinated by some 70 youth leaders who belong to the Salesian Youth Movement (including Salesian postnovices, practical trainees, students of theology and others). These were responsible for the different commissions: order and discipline, topics, liturgy, theatre, prayer etc., supported by the Salesian Cooperators who looked after the food arrangements, and priests from both Provinces, MEM and MEG for the sacraments. The event sought to help young people have an encounter with God in nature through reflection, the experience of being together, camping out. They were able to share their experience of life, faith and hope, as well as get to know the various ways of living out Salesian spirituality. "The Preventive System and Human Rights in the Gospel for today's youth" The core theme was "The Preventive System and Human Rights in the Gospel for today's youth". Starting with the 26th February the Salesian leaders, before beginning the Camp, were invited to present the image of Christ, show “charity” through who they were. The young campers, in the various activities, were invited to experience a Christian perspective on human rights, and be a light for others. Father Provincial was there on the 27th, but could not stay on since he had to attend a Retreat for Provincials preached by the Rector Major in Ecuador. The youngsters were motivated by games, the Word of God, small grou and other activities. While the film of Don Bosco was shown they were invited to take part in the Pilgrimage of the Saint's Casket which will arrive on the 4th August 2010, to use sites like Facebook and Twitter and donboscomx ( www.donbosco.mx,) and other sites and get involved in the SYM in the Province, and the World Youth day in Madrid in 2011. at the closing Mass, during the homily, a number of youngsters gave testimonies of the changes they had made over the days, the commitments ot human rights they were going to make from a Salesian and Church point of view. They all wanted the camp to last longer! Fr Daniel García, who presided at the Mass, invited them to be a fire lit by the light of Christ to “bring young people to Christ” through youth, and not to fall into the trap of wanting to set up a tent on the mountain as the apostles wanted to do at the Transfiguration. Mr Roberto Nuno, National Councillor for the Episcopal Conference Youth Ministry Commission, also took part. He urged experiences like Campo Bosco to continue. Fr Alfonso Burciaga Saucedo the Salesian Mission Procurator invited all the youngsters to think of a mission experience as a Salesian Volunteer. |
