Dear Confreres, Sisters, Members of the Salesian Family, Friends of Don Bosco:

A warm thanks to you all for the greetings and prayers on my nameday . This time it is simply not possible for me to answer you individually as is my wont, and as each of you deserve; in fact I am in Brazil, tied up with the 5th General Episcopal Conference of Latin America and the Caribbean.

I will reciprocate the affection and prayer with which you accompany my ministry with a special memento before the statue of Our Lady of the Apparition (Madonna Aparecida). May she instruct you to welcome the Holy Spirit whom Jesus promised us, in order to be His witnesses.

And at this point I also wish you a Happy Feast of Mary Help of Christians.
