Provincials and Superiors
Dear Father Provincial,
I hope this finds you well and that this Holy Week may help you to live, together with the confrères, an intense spiritual atmosphere.
In these days, during the meetings of the Intermediate General Council, among other issues, we also discussed about the criterion to follow for the approval of Provincial Chapters concerning the two themes requested from each Province. For your information I hereby notify how the General Council will proceed for the study of such Chapters in view of their approval. The elements I now offer you will be examined with the entire General Council in June, before the study of the Chapters themselves.
1. Implementation of CG27
In the study of this theme, we will verify if the guidelines and choices of the Provincial Chapter for the implementation of GC27 are consistent with the Constitutions and General Regulations. Besides, we will examine if the fundamental operational aspects indicated in GC27 have been adopted and concretized for the life of the Province; in particular we will assess the following aspects: identity of Salesian consecrated life, personal and community spiritual life, necessity of a spiritual guide, fraternity in the community, promotion of the vocation of the Salesian lay brother, initial and ongoing formation to affectivity, involvement of lay people in the spirit and the mission, synergy with the Salesian family, implementation of family pastoral ministry, assistance and animating presence among the youth, transparency, professionalism and solidarity in the use of goods.
2. Reshaping of Salesian Presences in the Province
In the study of this theme we will examine if and which criteria have been indicated by the Provincial Chapter with reference to: quantitative and qualitative consistency of the communities, tasks of the Salesian confrères in the animation of the works and tasks of lay people, promotion of the Salesian consecrated vocation, necessity to open new presences, entrusting of houses to lay people under responsibility of the province, qualification of the confrères, closing of works, commitment towards poor youth, sustainability of the houses, availability to send confrères to other provinces and to welcome confrères from other provinces, involvement of the Salesian Family in our presences.
I seize the opportunity to wish you a Happy Easter. In Don Bosco
Don Francesco Cereda
